How do we do this

Through outreach partnerships, Schools Star accesses all students from those in the most marginalized communities to those from more privileged backgrounds. The Grade 12s take a simple assessment resulting in a Top 500 Schools Star list! The characteristics assessed are:

1. Curiosity (asking powerful questions)
 2. Learning agility (I always learn)
3. Growth Mindset (I can grow)
 4. Adaptability (How to Change)
 5. Change Resilience (Building Confidence for Change)
 6. Connectedness (Building Relationships with Others)

The Top 500 The Top 500 students list features the very best Grade 12s on a strict 70/30 non fee paying schools/independent schools ratio. Once a student reaches the Top 500, they benefit from a sponsored in depth strengths assessment and a key skills indicator, providing key information for their future career choices. Those who need the most assistance will be guided through the process and those who have yet to complete a tertiary application will be assisted in doing so – all free of charge with application fees also covered. From these results, we form a TOP 100 list of those Gauteng Grade 12s who demonstrate the most potential for future success.

The Top 100 The 70/30 ratio continues in this list. Each and every qualifying student will receive a full living expense bursary into the institution of their choice. Many of the remaining Top500 will receive funding assistance. Schools Star Students from different walks of life are buddied with each other, ensuring a 2 way learning relationship Mentors are provided from the GradStar network of the country’s most employable tertiary students. Efforts are made to ensure alignment with area of study and institution attended.
